A Ceilidh, you say?

Yes, It is almost time for our Family Ceilidh. I had decided it would be good to try and have a weekend event that would include dads and whole families, so the ceilidh idea sprang forth. Tickets are almost sold out, so I'll whisper the details for the last few spaces...

This shindig kicks off at 3pm (to 5pm), Saturday 26th of November at St John's - i.e. our usual  'Toddlers' hall.  We have hired a band called, Haud Yer Lugs. Yup. A fiver for adults and kids go free. Multiple buns and cakes are included. Any old dance steps are included, it doesn't matter if you don't know the correct ones. The toddlers won't be holding score charts.

Membership capped after Popularity Surge

Blimey,

We were so busy trying to welcome the world to our toddler group and make it popular, we hadn't factored that it might become over-popular. The past few weeks have bordered on hectic and overwhelming, so myself and the committee have decided to cap membership for now. Let's concentrate on fostering harmony amidst the rising noise levels and scattered raisins. Thanks to everyone who is doing duty and helping out.

Sorry to anyone who had hoped to join us, but there will be a waiting list for further invites when numbers settle down.

PS -The photographer will join us on Thursday 17th November.

Toddlers closing for October week

Hi all,

just to let you know that we are closed this week to coincide with the October school holidays. We re-open Tuesday 25th October - and will have two Halloween parties  that week, Tuesday and Thursday. Fancy Dress is not obligatory, but certainly fun. I am still struggling with my home-made costume attempts. Lots of glue and scraps of material, so why doesn't it look like it's supposed to? We'll see....

Toddlers welcomes you back...

...with open, chubby toddler arms.

Well, didn't summer fly by? We start again on Thursday 1st September, at our usual times: 10am to 11.45 am. All new members welcome.

I will post the rota here, but don't let words like 'rota' put you off. The ethos of our group is open, friendly and helpful, and there are always others who know what they're doing, or at least pretend to.

For existing members who can't get enough of housework, we are open (10am to 11am-ish) on Tuesday 30th August for toy-cleaning day. Basically, we'll drag the toys out and give them a good wipe down.  Toddlers can join in..., or mill about whinging and generally hold things back. Maybe if we give the kids a soapy basin, they'll get enthusiastic. Bring rubber gloves / plastic basins, if you have them and we'll provide the cleaning sprays etc.

Cheers for now and see you soon.

Toddlers closing for summer break

Hello all,

a wee reminder that Beaconsfield Toddler Group is closing for the summer - our last day is Thursday 23rd June. Do not despair, for we are planning a few informal meet-ups on Thursday and possibly Tuesdays mornings - to local parks and play centres etc. We'll keep the email contacts informed.

We reopen on Thursday 1st September 2011 and look forward to seeing you all again.

Hello Mums...

...and welcome to our new 'Beacon' blog. It's here to keep you up to date with All Things Toddler Group and answer any questions you have.

Here are the basics for new-comers:

Beaconsfield Toddlers is for 0-3 year olds and their mums/dads/carers/nannies/grannies. We are open 10am to 11.45am on Tuesdays and Thursdays during school term times. Our location is St John's Renfield church hall on Beaconsfield Road, opposite the Nuffield private hospital.

All are welcome to try us out. If you like it, sign up for only £5 a term. We have plenty of toys and I hope that we are always welcoming. We're a fairly international bunch with mum's from far-flung places. Also, you don't have to be religious. If you did, they wouldn't let me in.

So, don't be shy, and get your prams rolling. It can be a great lift and comfort to talk to other mums as you stumble, incredulous, through the early days of parenthood.  And the babies and kids love it too.

Cheers for now, and I'll post news as it arises. Bookmark the page and you'll know where we are.
